Before any treatment begins, the effects that outside factors such as the sun, smoking, diet and exercise can have on the skin are explained. You are made aware of the structure of the skin and the different skin functions that can be hindered by internal and external toxins. Next, you are given a thorough skin evaluation, whereby your skin is classified into a specific clinical category. In conjunction with Dr. Wolin, the Aesthetician then recommends home care products that are appropriate for your specific needs. The second point and major thrust of the program is the treatment of specific concerns such as sun damaged, acne prone, hyper pigmented or hypersensitive skin.

The Aesthetician works closely with Dr. Wolin in an effort to prescribe the treatment best suited for your skin type and skin problems. This clinic has been particularly successful treating acne prone and hyper pigmented skin. We may supplement the home care aspect of the skin care program by administering a Glycolic peel. The peel is a three-step process. The first step is a physical exfoliation of dead skin cells, which will cause more fresh skin cells to be produced. Next Alpha-Hydroxy acids may be applied to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. Lastly, we may use a cryogenic skin freezing process, which further stimulates the creation of new skin cells. These are no down time peels and can be done on a monthly basis. Thirdly, the program is excellent when administered as pre and post operative care for more involved cosmetic procedures, such as a facelift or laser skin resurfacing. To ensure the skin is well toned and hydrated, a complete skin care program will be tailored for that patient’s specific needs. We also demonstrate how to apply camouflage makeup for optimal effect and show the patient how to mix colors to arrive at the most natural-looking skin tone. Participation in the skin care program can in some cases reduce the recovery time and will get the patient back to normal activities as soon as possible.
