Sculptra®

What is Sculptra®? It is a synthetic injectable material known as “poly-L-lactic acid”. Poly-L-lactic acid is a material that does not harm the body and is able to be broken down by the body (biodegradable). It has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants and other types of implants. It is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. One to three treatments are usually necessary to achieve the desired results.

Sculptra® does not require any allergy testing.

The results last a year or more and the common side effects are bruising and swelling at the injection site. These side effects typically will resolve in a few days.
